SOKTOBERFEST '07 SUPER GROUP CHAMPIONS!!!!

The boys in red end up victorious, bringing the cup back to Tulsa were it belongs!!

Saturday morning we played Legacy FC out of Kansas City, MO. They were the defending champions of the tournament. We won 2-1 in a hard fought battle against a youthful skilled opponent.
That afternoon we played the Airforce team out of Colorado Springs. They weren't as young or skilled but they made up for it in strength. We beat them in a tight 1-0 match.
Sunday morning we played a team from Kansas. They had already lost to both the teams we played Saturday so we assumed they wouldn't give us any trouble. It was a fun game that ended in a 2-1 victory for Agape. Meanwhile, on the field next to us, Legacy FC and the Airforce team tied and were battling it out in a shoot out. The Airforce team won and advanced to play us in the finals at 2pm.
Agape vs. The Airforce!!!
The pitch was set and we had a pretty decent crowd turn out for the finals. We came out and played some good soccer first half and came up on them by 3 points. We slacked off 2nd half and let our guard down. We ended up winning the match 4-2.

We headed back to the tent for pictures with our piece of silver and the traditional Soktoberfest champions mugs with our heads held high.

Also, don't forget to check out the E! True Hollywood Story on Blake Lewis. It's a heartfelt success story about the shortest guy to ever register with NEOSA soccer and still come out a hero (in his own mind). It will give a positive outlook on life to short people all across the globe.

Goal of the tournament: Brian Scrapper-Finals!!!

Player of the tournament: ?Agape? to hard to choose-if i had to pick someone I would have to go with Blake Lewis because of his obvious disadvantage (not to mention he probably had the most goals and assists out of anyone else). Good job Blake!

Big thanks to Coach Crow for putting this team together in 2 weeks before the season started. Not to bad for a short notice.

'till next time,
Berger
Oct. 14 Agape vs. DTU

Agape's unbeaten record ends with an ugly 1-2 loss to DTU. It definitely didn't help that we were missing 4 or 5 of our best players. On top of that the officiating was atrocious to say the least. The ref was making bad calls the entire game against both teams. It just so happens we were the ones that received the two score changing calls, one from the ref and one from the linesman. They called back one of our goals from offsides, which our striker was a good 2 feet on sides before he made his run to goal. We could live with that bad call but then the ref gives DTU a PK for an obviously unintentional handball from our sweeper that may have not even been in the box.
It was not a pretty game. We should have won 2-1, I would have settled for a 1-1 draw, but somehow we came out the losers 1-2. Oh well, it happens. Bottom line, we lost our first, and hopefully our last game of the season.
Sept. 30 Agape vs. FC Real

Agape wins again!!! 9-1

Another "W" on the board for the lads!! -Although in my opinion, probably the sloppiest game we've played so far this season. We played just well enough to squeak by Arsenal with a nail-biting 7-2 victory. HA-OK, maybe not exactly nail-biting but it may have been close had we'd of played someone to likes of DTU or BAAC. I think we still would have won given the way we performed, but it would have been close. I know we'll step it up when the challenge presents itself.

We now have a grand total of 27 goals scored and only 5 goals allowed in just 4 games!! Not a shabby start to the season!

Scoring Summary: (in no particular order)
Jesse Crow - 2
Jonathan Rivers - 2
Drew England - 1
Tony Dodson - 1
Josh Hughes - 1

Sorry about the late post this week. I've been swamped! I promise to pick up the slack next week.
I know that a couple of people have asked for a full roster with a team picture. As long as most the squad is here this Sunday I'll try and snag a team pic and post it next week.

Until next time,

Another win by a big margin is in the books for Agape. The 5-0 spread was beaten, and then some. OK Revolution went down 9-0 at the hands of a seemingly unstoppable Agape side. That leaves us with 20 goals scored and only 3 goals scored against us in just three games. That's Ridiculous!!!

I was planning on doing a full match report but we are just scoring to many damn goals and that would take forever.
So here it is:

First off, congratulations to Aaron Hayes and his defense for there first clean sheet and to the man of the match, Troy Arnold, who had an outstanding hat-trick!!
Way to go guys!!

Scoring Summary: (in no particular order)
Troy Arnold - 3
Jesse Crow - 2
Mike Jones - 1
Bryant Scrapper - 1
Blake Lewis - 1
Jonathan Rivers - 1

(Yes, you read correctly. Not only do we have famous rapper Mike Jones scoring goals for us but also the American Idol beat-boxer Blake Lewis.)

Until next time,

P.S. Whoever voted in the pole that we would take anything short of 1st is CRAZY!!!
